Closed on Sunday

Chick-fil-A sign

Chick-fil-A does this

it's a terrible decision

from one perspective

from the perspective of short-term profitability and of maximizing ROI at all costs

closing on Sundays would not be favored by most shareholders

so why does Chick-fil-A take Sundays off

when it does not make sense from a profitability perspective

after all, isn't that the whole point of business?

maybe it's not the whole point

at least not to Chick-fil-A

maybe it's even a minor theme

a fruit of living out their values

if your company says that its people are its most important asset

if your company says that its biggest value is in putting employees first

what would that really look like?
